Review: Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum
If you’re looking for a unique gift or just want to up your sanitation game for your hard flooring — the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum is a great purchase that will keep your hard floors clean.
Great Wet Dry Vacuums are surprisingly hard to research. You can search YouTube, TikTok , Instagram, or Medium and still feel like you were just sold a commercial. I’ve previously reviewed the Dreame Tech H11 Max Wet Dry Vacuum, which is still a great machine. Over the last year, I’ve kept some mental notes on what I would love to see improved on the Dreame Tech H11 Max Wet Dry Vacuum and the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum has answered my requests. It is more compact, adds a removable battery, is shipped with cleaning solution, and connects to an app that will keep you up to date on water dispensed, cleaning status, when a filter needs replacing, and even tutorials. I would suggest updating the firmware first before going too far into the app. Who would have thought, firmware updates for your Wet Dry Vacuum!
So I try to not read the manuals when I review products. I want to open the box and get up and running on my own. I do this because I am usually a little more tech efficient than other people so if I can’t figure it out there is no way my parents and grandparents will be able to do it. The Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum was about a 7 out of 10 on setup difficulty. It wasn’t hard to get the physical Wet Dry Vacuum setup but the app took a few tries to get connected and running.
OUT OF THE BOX
Right after opening the box, I found the handle, Ultenic AC1 wet dry vacuum body, battery, 1 liter — clean water tank, 1 liter — dirty water tank, cleaning brush, (2) rollers, (2) HEPA filters, self-cleaning dock, power plug, and cleaning solution. I immediately pieced the handle to the body, plugged the battery into the body, plugged the dock into the outlet and let the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum charge from the shipped 80% to 100%. While the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum was charging I connected my Samsung Galaxy phone. On my first try I was unable to connect the vacuum to my phone and wifi — but after putting my phone directly on top of the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum display and initiating connection I was able to connect. From there I could see how many hours the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum had been used, what accessories needed changing, and more. I then initiated a firmware update and it worked flawlessly. I was worried since I had an initial connection issue, that I could possibly lose connection during a firmware update. Luckily, it didn’t and the Ultenic app was actually useful — something that isn’t always the case.
TESTING
Once connected to the app, fully charged, and filled with water — I began using the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum. There are 4 modes: Smart, Max, Deep Clean (Sterilization), and Suction (Floor Drying/water absorption only) — there are multiple descriptions of each of the modes in the manual and on the Ultenic website. I tried them all but ended up liking Smart mode the best, Smart mode will adjust it’s cleaning power depending on what the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum identifies as a mess or relatively clean. And while the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum will vacuum up dirt and debris, I would suggest cleaning as much of the larger debris that you can before using the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum. This isn’t a negative critique, but the Wet Dry Vacuums generally handle simple messes better and it’s kind of chore to clean out the dirty water tanks.
Back to actually using the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum, I put the AC1 into Smart Mode and cleaned my entire downstairs which is around 1000 square feet. From the kitchen tile to the hardwood floors of the dining and living rooms. The Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum worked great and what’s even better is that the AC1 is self-propelled so it takes minimal effort to push. I noticed that the AC1 cleans all the way to the edge of the Vacuum, unlike other wet dry vacuums that sometimes have about a half inch of space. This is a really, REALLY great improvement. In Smart Mode, I ran the battery down to about 60%. Once I finished, I emptied the dirty water tank into the sink and boy oh boy was it dirty. For context, I have 3 sons under 11 years of age, some cats, and a new puppy. So we are in and out of the house from sports to running at the park. We constantly clean the floors but the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum picked up a lot of dirt. I was really impressed.
I then sampled the different modes: MAX, Deep Clean, and Water Absorption. Max and Deep Clean are great- Max for messes with more physical dirt/objects, Deep Clean for areas you may want to clean more (like areas babies would be crawling around), and my second favorite mode Water Absorption mode. I like Water Absorption mode on the AC1 because for some reason, the kitchen constantly has water on the floor. The Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum is a great wet dry vacuum to have near the kitchen if only for wiping up our constant water spills.
After cleaning and dumping the dirty water out, I refilled the clean water tank and placed the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum onto the self-cleaning dock where it began to charge. I pushed the self-cleaning button and it began the “Sanitizing” process which I assume is heating up the water, the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum then began to run water through the vacuum and cleaning the roller. After 2–3 minutes it was done and the Sterilization UV Light and fan automatically turn on to sanitize the roller. I really like the addition of the Sterilization UV Light and fan on the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum, once I realized what the UC1 was doing — I really got excited to see the extra protection the AC 1 provides. The first time this ran, it went for 10 minutes before I turned it off by pushing the Self-cleaning button for 5 seconds. The next few times I didn’t notice it running as long.
IN THE END
In the end, the Ultenic AC1 Wet Dry Vacuum is a great improvement over other wet dry vacuums I have used. Ultenic even sends a bottle of their cleaning solution that really polishes the hard floor cleaning. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find where to purchase additional bottles of the floor cleaning solution and hope to see it online soon. You can purchase additional batteries on the Ultenic website: https://www.ultenic.com/products/ultenic-ac1-wet-dry-vacuum for $59.99 and additional rollers and HEPA filters on Amazon for $19.99 currently.
