REVIEW: Dreame H11 Max — Self-Cleaning Wet and Dry Vacuum
If you have kids, animals, or even just yourself walking around your hardwood or tile floors you know how dirty they can get — even if they “look” clean, they need to be mopped. I have 3 sons under 10, cats, me, and my wife; from coming in the house straight from soccer or walking through the grocery store — my family tracks in the dirt. But it is sometimes hard to see and even after using the Dreame Tech T30 Cordless Stick Vacuum I reviewed previously: https://bradybetzel.medium.com/review-dreame-technologys-t30-cordless-stick-vacuum-ba35837093ec — the floors still need a good mopping. This is where the cordless Dreame H11 Max Self-Cleaning Wet and Dry Vacuum comes in to play. And if that is enough info for you to purchase the Dreame H11 Max, click their Amazon link to purchase it: https://amz.fun/O-BfO and use the coupon code: DREAMEH1112 to save 15% on the H11 or the H11 Max. The H11 Max retails for $499 (~$425 with coupon) and the H11 retails for $399 (~$340 with coupon).
The Dreame H11 Max is a cordless, battery operated wet and dry vacuum that goes beyond the standard vacuuming and scrubs the dirt off of your hard floor surface. And one of the most helpful features: it cleans itself while charging. On my first test, I was shocked at how dirty the water was from the dirty water tank on the H11 Max. But first I want to go through what’s in the box and what features the H11 Max has.
What’s Inside the Box:
- H11 Max Main Body and Handle
- Charging Base with Accessory Holder and Power Adapter
- Cleaning Brush
- Back-up Roller Brush
- Back-up Filter
H11 Max Technical Specifications:
- Charging Time: ~5 hours
- 21.6 rated voltage — 26 V charging voltage
- 200 Watts Power
- 3650 mAh rated capacity
- 4000 mAh nominal capacity
- 30.4 fl oz — Clean Water Tank Capacity
- 16.9 fl oz — Dirty Water Tank Capacity
The Dreame H11 Max measures about 44 1/2" tall, 11" deep, and 14" wide including the charging base when charging. Outside of the charger it is about 44" tall, 9" deep, and 12" wide.
When I receive review items, I always want to use them straight out of the box without reading directions. Not only am I impatient but I like to experience what most other people experience. I like to use the least amount of brain power to use a product. If a product requires too much brain-power and is confusing I’m usually not a fan. But the Dreame H11 Max comes out of the box with just the handle needing to be installed. As I visually made my way from top to bottom of the vacuum I found a wavy line button on the top of the handle, power button, and a button that looks like a water drop in a circle on the front of the handle. On the H11 Max body I noticed a very nice visual display. The H11 Max came 40% charged and even though the instructions said to fully charge the H11 Max, I started using it right away. Once I figured out the clean and dirty water chambers I filled the clean chamber with clean water. I pushed power and holy cow it scared me, a voice came on and said “Auto Mode,” I quickly hit the water-droplet button and it said “Water Absorption Mode,” and finally I hit the power button and it told me to “Put the Vacuum on the Charger to Begin Self-Cleaning.”
So if you weren’t able to intuitively figure out how to use the Dreame H11 Max wet and dry vacuum — she will instruct you. It’s actually very helpful, especially with kids who don’t want to read instructions. Once you place the H11 Max back on the charging dock it will continue to tell you things. Once you hit the wavy lined button on the top of the handle to begin self-cleaning she will walk you through any problems such as an empty clean water tank or a full dirty water tank. And don’t worry if you fill up the dirty water chamber halfway through a cleaning, you can empty the tank and hit the self-cleaning button again and it will pick up where it left off. It’s awesome!
The package itself describes the H11 Max as being “low noise,” but in my opinion it wasn’t. Obviously this is subjective but I have constant chaos and zoo noises around my house from my 3 sons and even myself and it was still able to drown them out.
One of the biggest features of the H11 Max versus the H11 is an extra 6 minutes of run time. This seems to be achieved through the auto-dirt sensing feature. Similar to the Dreame T30 Stick Vacuum I mentioned earlier, there is a sort of auto-mode that will increase power when a heavier amount of dirt is sensed. The other differences between the H11 Max and H11 is the Black coloring of the H11 Max and White of the H11, the H11 Max has Mess Detection, auto-mode (vs always turbo), 200W of power vs 170W, and Brushless motor (vs brushed). Both versions come with a 12 month warranty on workmanship.
Once I got through testing the H11 Max by vacuuming up pancake mix and soil I grabbed from the garden, I read the manual. I found that there is a Voice Prompt Button on the rear of the vacuum that can be depressed to either turn off the voice prompts and/or depressed for 3 seconds to change the language of the voice. On the LED display located at the top of the H11 Max body, there are a few descriptive icons that can light up:
- Self-Cleaning
- Auto Mode
- Water Absorption Mode
- Battery Level Indicator (Green for battery > 20%, Orange for battery < 20%)
- Clean Water Tank (blinks Orange when tank needs to be filled)
- Dirty Water Tank (blinks red when it is full or not installed properly)
- Tube Blocked
- Roller Brush Stuck or not installed properly
What Did I Love about the Dreame H11 Max cordless wet and dry vacuum?
I loved how easy to use and powerful the H11 Max is to operate. Even my 6 year old who has to vacuum has a part of his chores can operate the H11 Max. He even enjoys it! Like I mentioned earlier, I was really surprised at how dirty the water was in the dirty water tank. Which means the H11 Max was working well. My wife even asked if I had cleaned the floors because they looked so clean — which is funny because I neurotically vacuum the floors every day and even after my kids do sometimes. I know, it’s a sickness.
What Could Be Improved on the Dreame H11 Max?
Not much. I would love to see an addition of a light to the front of the vacuum for those emergency late night/early morning spills. I would also love the H11 Max to auto tilt when I start to use it, at the moment you need to hold your foot on the bottom and pull the handle back a little. Finally, the Amazon link mentions a cleaning solution that comes with the H11 Max but I did not see one in the box — and I would love to know which type of solution I could use. But those are really knit-picky.
In the End
In the end, I love the Dreame Tech H11 Max wet and dry vacuum. I threw ultra-fine pancake mix on my floor as well as soil from our garden which had large sticks in it and the H11 Max sucked both of them up within 2 passes. Usually vacuums will blow pancake mix all over the place leading me to have to sweep it up but the H11 Max sucked it up without making a larger mess. I did accidentally drop the dirty water tank when I was going to empty it, which made a mess. Luckily the H11 Max can clean it’s own mess up! Using “Water Absorption Mode” I sucked the dirty water up in seconds. I truly love this wet and dry vacuum. With kids and myself spilling stuff all the time or trudging in mud from soccer games, the Dreame H11 Max is an amazing tool to have charging in your house. Not only does it clean messes it is really making our house a cleaner and healthier home.
