Padmate PaMu Quiet: Active Noise Cancelling, Rechargeable, Bluetooth Earbuds
Previously, I reviewed the Padmate PaMu Slide Mini Earbuds: https://medium.com/@bradybetzel/padmate-pamu-slide-mini-bluetooth-5-0-wireless-earphones-b2d25e1a028f. Which are a great (and cheap) alternative to the big box brand earbuds like Apple, Samsung, and more. The only knock on them was the lack of noise cancellation. Well lucky me, Padmate has introduced the PaMu Quiet Active Noise Cancelling Earbuds on Indiegogo: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/pamu-quiet-music-in-noise-out-never-fall-out#/
Every time I open a Padmate product, I get an immediate feeling of luxury and value.
The retail packaging as well as the product case are both usable and beautiful. The stopwatch looking case doubles as a wireless Qi charging case that can re-charge the PaMu Quiet’s about 3 times in my experience. The case itself took about an hour to charge via USB-C for me. And there is even an ice blue LED ring around the outside of the pocketwatch-looking case to identify if it is charging. In addition, there is a USB-C cable, lanyard, and different sized rubber ear bud covers to customize the fit of the PaMu Quiets to your ear canal shape and size. I seem to have luck with the default rubber covers which are a medium.
Once I opened the PaMu Quiets, I immediately paired them with my Samsung Galaxy S20. It took 10 seconds from putting the earbuds in my ears to talking to my wife and listening to music! And speaking of music, the PaMu Quiet Earbuds have some high-quality audio. Backed by the Qualcomm QCC5124 chip with aptX Classic, SBC, AAC decoding, 48kHz/16-bit LPCM audio — the PaMu Quiet Earbuds have crystal clear highs and rumbling lows. The midtones are also identifiable, which isn’t always the case on earbuds.
I took the PaMu Quiet Earbuds on a walk around the neighborhood while there were some landscape workers doing loud work like cutting down trees, mowing grass, and more. I immediately thought the Quiets were….well quiet but I wasn’t convinced they were true noise cancelling until I opened the manual and I hadn’t activated the noise cancelling yet! What a dummy. I pressed my finger on the Right PaMu Quiet Earbud for a few seconds and all of a sudden the world closed in. The PaMu Quiet Earbuds had brought the loud mowing down to a light hum. It was incredible. And to test the Active Noise Cancelling again to make sure I was actually correct in my testing, I turned the active noise cancelling around my 3 sons (2, 6, and 8 years old) while they were screaming around the house — it was incredible I was all alone on an island. That story is true but I don’t use these to mute my children, although you could. But it took the ear piercing screaming and yelling down to a manageable level!
All joking aside, the Padmate PaMu Quiet Active Noise Cancelling Earbuds are top of the line rechargable wireless earbuds that can battle the noise of a lawn mower and work through the sweat of a hard workout without falling out. I shook my head a few times and the earbuds stayed in. I ran and the PaMu Quiets stay in place. From listening to music to podcasts on Spotify, the Padmate PaMu Quiet Noise Cancelling Earbuds are a great value at $89 plus free shipping via their Indiegogo campaign: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/pamu-quiet-music-in-noise-out-never-fall-out#/.
So what did I not like about the Padmate PaMu Quiet Earbuds? Not much. When I started running out of battery power I got an audible warning and then 5 minutes later they died. I would have really liked a longer time between a low battery warning and the earbuds not working. Occasionally, when I would put the PaMu Quiets back into the stopwatch-like charging case they would not disconnect from my phone and I would have to turn off my bluetooth to get them to disconnect. This could have been my fault by not placing the earbuds completely on the charging points, but it was a little annoying. This only happened twice over a few months though.
In the end, I love the value and luxury the Padmate PaMu Quiet Noise Cancelling Earbuds provide. From the Qi-compatible wireless charging case to the fit of the PaMu Quiet Earbuds, the $89 price is an extremely low price for the high quality you will receive. If you are on the edge about buying an expensive pair of wireless earbuds, definitely try out the Padmate PaMu Quiet Earbuds.
