MicroNovelty’s GIGA Pump 2.0
I am constantly surrounded by toys, sports equipment, and generally mayhem with my 3 sons. And while batteries are the most popular items I seem to always need more of, inflating beach balls and other toys is also of high importance. For fathers and mothers around the world, MicroNovelty’s GIGA Pump 2.0 is a breath of fresh air.
The GIGA Pump 2.0 costs $34 and includes free shipping: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/giga-pump2-the-smallest-air-pump-lantern-3-in-1#/. It fits in the palm of your hand and can inflate common items in under a minute.
When I first received the GIGA Pump 2.0 I thought it was too small to be powerful and boy was I wrong. I scrounged around to find a beach ball to see just how the pump worked. It took under 30 seconds to fill the beach ball. Remember when I said batteries were a common missing item in my house? The GIGA Pump 2.0 uses a 1300mAh lithium-ion rechargeable and even charges fast thanks to the USB-C connection.
In addition to pumping up beach balls, the GIGA Pump 2.0 comes with 5 nozzles and a USB-A to USB-C charging cable.
Technically, the GIGA Pump 2.0 has a air flow rate of 180L/min and a top pressure of 3.5KPa. KPa is a measurement of pressure that has come to replace PSI. And while I have an earlier version of the GIGA Pump 2.0, it will now be able to work as a vacuum pump as well to remove air from items like vacuum seal bags. The internal battery is long lasting, to test it I used the pump without recharging it many times. I got about 15 beach balls pumped up before I needed to recharge, a funny way to calculate battery life. What I did discover was that an interesting way to charge the GIGA Pump 2.0 is using a power bank — a really handy way to re-charge if you are camping.
Speaking of camping, the GIGA Pump 2.0 doubles as a flashlight/lantern with 3 levels of output:
It’s safe to say that at the lowest power output, 40 Lumens, that the GIGA Pump 2.0 lantern function will last all night. What I love about the GIGA Pump 2.0 is how functional it is even being so small. It’s a great item to keep in my car’s glovebox in case of emergency, both to use as a pump but also for any emergency breakdowns where I would need a light.
In the end, the MicroNovelty GIGA Pump 2.0 is another level of innovation that was able to shrink the common pump to a really small form factor but also increase the power output. And with all modern electronics charging by way of USB-C (or atleast USB-A) you will be able to charge the GIGA Pump 2.0 wherever you are.
